Borrowing, Returning, and Renewing Books

For borrowing books, please go to the first floor of main library or to the second floor of the Old Library (A/V Materials Room) circulation desk.

When borrowing books, please come in person (or assigning somebody else by borrower representation service) and remember to bring the student card and at the circulation desk, remember to confirm the information displayed on monitor (whether the borrowed items is correct). Your borrowing records will be recorded on the library system.

Every borrowed book has to be returned on time to the circulation desk. When circulation desk isn't available, readers may return the books by putting it into a box that located on the right side of the front door and confirm the borrowing records on the system on the next day(Personal Records). Overdue will cause penalty and deprivation of borrowing discretion for certain days. For details, please refer to the rules for borrowing books.

Readers may renew the books within 7 days before expiration if there's no request made. Renewal can be done online (on the ¡§personal records¡¨), or at the circulation desk with student cards. The next expiring date will be counted from the renewing day. If there's reservation for the books, renewal will not be available. If there's reservation during renewing time, you must return the book in seven days after notification from library. Otherwise library will handle the case as overdue.

 

Reserving and Obligation in Returning Books

For reservation, readers may click on "Library Catalog" on the library webpage, and search for the materials.

To avoid missing the notice from the library, readers may confirm the E-mail address registered in the library system. If readers want to change the E-mail address, please modify the information through the webpage of the library. ( Homepage >> Personal Records )

Overdue, Damage, and Loss

Delayed return will cause fines or even deprivation of borrowing discretion. Loss or damage of books should be compensated according to the regulation. For further details, please refer to " The Library Rule of Loaning Data ".

If books are damaged before loaning, please inform the staff immediately. Loss of books should be reported immediately before the original deadline and compensate a new book or the cost of the book.

Borrowing Books Records and Notification

Please check the personal records of loaning frequently. Readers can inquire the records through the library webpage. (Homepage >> Personal Records ) The system will verify the reader's card number and password when loging in. The card number is the barcode on the card, and the system sets the ID card number as the initial password. " Personal Records " offer : the personal records inquiry, extending books online, the status of book reservation inqury, the overdue fine inquiry, password adjustment, update the address, update the telephone number, update the E-mail address

After library item has been borrowed, the library system will send e-mails to readers every day.The type of notification: "Borrowed Books Detailed Status Notification" ( Start from 7 days before the deadline ), "Overdue Items Notification " ( overdue dates : 1st day, 2nd day, 4th day, 7th day, 14th day ), "Urgent Book Returning Notification ", " Reserved Books Availability Notification "

Borrowing Books Service in Taiwan Univesities Joint Library (UST)

The students and the staff of NCU can use student's identity card (or employee's service card) in any of the joint universities. Each person is permitted to borrow up to 5 books for 30 days. The amount of books borrowed from NCU Libraryt and from UST counts separately. Readers of NCU Library must return all the books borrowed from UST and pay off the fines before leaving NCU.

Representation Policy for Borrowing and Returning Books inTaiwan Universities Joint Library

This service is totally free and offered only to the following readers : students, professors, staff and technicians of this NCU.Readers can confirm the status of the books through the catalogue system of other joint libraries and borrow books directly by filling the application form on the UST's webpage. The library will notify readers by E-mail afetr processing the request. The books are transported by special car of UST. Readers can claim the books at circulation desk of the library. Books will be retained for 3 days, and unclaimed books will be returned to the original library. If readers fail to claim the books twice, joint libraries have the right to deny readers' requests for 6 months.
